Literally just got this, will play around with it this week. Just fancied a change.

No longer "up to 19bar", new boiler makes coffee at a constant 19 bar (apparently).

Separate boilers for coffee and steaming milk.

Bigger water reservoir and bigger cups can be used.

Narrower but deeper footprint than my previous Citiz with aerrocino.

Comes as smoking red as below or retro cream/ american.

(actually, I preferred the cream but the lousy quality of it means that the lettering is easily scratched off so went for the Krups red one instead- still looks pretty cool).

Nice! The Masetria. I was aiming for that but felt that it was too expensive.
I ended up ordering the Citiz, mine is coming tomorrow.  ;D

At last, after so long I'm joining the Nespresso Club.

That red Citiz looks real good bro! Welcome!

Bought in UK?

Yes, substantial discount and apparently I can register for local warranty!

Just tried it now.

Really good! Heats up much faster.

I do the milk foam first and also warms the cup up, then do the coffee bit. Superbly hot coffee- the problem before was also that the coffee was never hot enough.

The steam wand is a doddle to use- needs some practice to get small bubbles for micro foam (for latte art), big bubbles and foam is easy (for macchiato and cappuccino).

One touch is for espresso style!  For cuppuccino, press slightly the right side button to add a bit more coffee then add the frothed fresh milk!  Remember, no sugar! :)

I think I prefer the red on yours actually (no, I dun wan to swap :) ).

Which model is yours? With the Citiz, you can pre-program the amount of water used to make the coffee (it's in the manual). Of course the Maestria is easier, just need to dial in the number.

I used to pre-program a v short espresso and a big vol lungo for the wife.

Mine's the Citiz stand-alone with a separate Aeroccino 3.
Thanks, noted on the programming thing. I'll just use Nespresso's default settings first, just to test all the capsules. Then later when I've found a favourite I'll start tweaking.  :D

Wow, sounds like hi-fi.  ;)

Make sure you get the latest DA&T conditioner.  You will hear a darker background as the noise will be removed.  Voila, your espresso and cuppuccino will taste better! ;D haha

That reminds me, must go change the fuse to a cryo fuse and change the plug to Oyaide. Then must buy footers for it.  :P
I wonder if can mod it and change some capacitors and improve the flavor?

Well, technically there are two standard measures available on a Nespresso machine: 40ml espresso serving ("left" button) and 110ml lungo serving ("right" button).  You are supposed to do espresso servings for most capsules, lungo serving only if you're using one of the four specific lungo blends.

Just watch the baristas at Starbucks: the coffee is just one small shot-glass worth of espresso, the rest is all milk.  Or two shots for larger servings, but on a Nespresso machine, the equivalent is to use a second capsule, not run more water through the same capsule.

In practice, what I do is run one round of espresso (40ml), then press the button again for a second round, but push it yet again about half-way through its run to stop it, so the total is about 60ml of water.  Any more and the coffee is too thin: which is what happens if you run a 110ml lungo serving of water through an espresso capsule.

Just MHO anyway.

As an aside, there is a new Lungo variety, which replaces one of the existing ones.  I tried it at the store the other day, pleasant but unremarkable; I rarely drink any of the lungo varieties anyway.
There is no dark side of the moon really.  Matter of fact, it's all dark.

Thanks, Armoury.
So I can actually control the flow of water on-the-fly by just pressing the buttons in mid-flow. Good to know.  :)

What are the favourite flavors for you guys?
What would you recommend for a strong pick-me-up in the morning?

Technically, I would assume caffeine content is the same across the board.  But if you want the strong flavours to perk up the nose (it's partly psychological, after all), just look at the ratings.  Personally I like Indriya, Ristretto, Arpeggio (10, 10 and 8 IIRC).  Roma (9?) is not bad too.  For a smooth mellow cup, Dulsao (only 3).  Don't really bother with the rest, e.g. I find Rosabaya a bit sour for my taste, typical of Colombian coffees which tend to be more acidic.  The rest seem a bit 'forgettable', in that they're pleasant but unremarkable. Livanto (6), for instance, is the base for all the flavoured Christmas limited edition variations, which indirectly tells you the base flavour doesn't stand out, otherwise the flavours would have to compete with it.
