...the prerequisite for me is, it must be reasonably quiet and scratch free (no matter how minor). will let you know if i come across one. first pressing are always in demand because of the sound quality and usually cost more as compared to later reissues.
vinyl collection can be a costly affair.

I am not picky abt vintage :) as long as it is in good condition.

Hi D Howser,

Great to find someone who shares the same conviction. ;)  Enjoy & Appreciate the Music that Great Musicians have created as Behind the Music,Musicians have spend countless hours n hours practicing before they reached recording/performance standard.

Despite getting the record cleaned earlier at the shop, the last track (Soft) was still filled with some snap crackle and pops :(

That said, the recording is still pretty damn good on Soft. The female vocalist sounds so real and natural.

The surprise for tonight has got to be this:

This isn't a new disc per se, but one I got used from Zenn a couple of months back. I never got around to listening to it cos it hadn't been cleaned but last Friday sent a whole batch to Roxy for cleaning and only got it back today.

Surprised how "thin" these old discs were but how amazing they still sound

Then I put in another from the same batch as Chicago...

Sadly this one sounded just bad.. maybe it's cos this was a very electronic infused recording but everything sounded like it was coming from the center like a mono recording. Not sure if it's cos the of the original mastering or if the record had been overplayed :(

Can't wait to get the Nitty Gritty to see if the Mangione and Jones albums can be salvaged.

Will go through more tomorrow :P

As part of my pilgrimage through the music of my teenage years, I picked up a whole bunch of 80s LP memorabilia at Zenn but only got to clean them this week at Roxy's...

This 45rpm single LP still sounds sooo good, it's unbelievable.

The drums just have an in your face presence that I love...

Good ol' Kenny G in his younger days..

Both recordings still sound incredibly good today, despite their age and even their relative "thinness" compared to my newer recordings.

ps Roxy boss called.. he had forgotten where he found his copy of Feels So Good but his customer found it for him!! w00t!!
