I have a marantz CD-17 MK III that was in storage. Took in out recently and found it cannot read cds.

I have opened up to check, disc is spinning and laser head can be moved.

It is able to detect no disc. However, when there is a disc inside, it shows error on LCD.

Anyone know what could be the problem?

Any where I can get it repaired?

Try Adrian from Memory Lane or Mivec.  Mivec's contact can be found from his postings here or in Echoloft.  My Marantz player is repaired by Mivec.

2 weeks ago I was in Tokyo and visited Yodobashi at Akhibara.  Saw the Marantz SA10 at a very good price compared to Singapore.  For tourist, there is a 8% tax discount and another 5% discount with Visa from the retail price. After all the discount, it is S$6700 only.  So much cheaper.  Perhaps HK will be similar price after discount.  Feel like flying there to bring back one :)

Yes it is 110V. That is why I said if going HK for holiday, bringing one back makes good sense.  Japan pricing is just for reference only.

Just take note that when you carry back this huge box thru Singapore custom, they may ask you to pay GST..

Also if you are very unlucky and bought a lemon or equipment got damage during transportation back home...no local warranty. So if you are ok to overlook these risks, by all means..go for it.

Absolutely agree with you.  As in any overseas purchase, there is always a risk involved. Potential buyers just have to decide whether the saving is worth the effort.  In this case, they have to decide whether a saving of more than 1k plus is worth it :)

RRP in the video someone posted earlier is HK$42800 converted to approx S$7700.  Street price should be a significantly cheaper with discount from dealers.  You can google the street price in google :)
