Listen to DIYer

His 2.4s were stunning. Couldn’t figure out how he got it to work. But he did.

I still prefer the 3.7 in my current larger room but if I had to fit the 2.4SE in a bedroom, I now would be willing to take a gamble.

Now how do I bring back the Amphion Krypton 3s home those side firing woofers are a bane.

Seems like a good idea.
After trying out different placements in the room yesterday night, i could hear the bass echoing.
I guess it's really room related.
I'll try out what DIYer suggested tonight.

Keep you guys updated later.

Hello guys,

Have tried the placement suggestion from DIYer on 18/9/18.
So, I found that the bass was super heavy behind the speakers and the bass wasn't projecting in front. I could actually sum up that the room acoustics had issues.
So, I have started collecting materials from my construction site (im an engineer) and started building my own traps.

Here is a link to the pictures of my traps.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rab7kfqmg01nnj3/AABrDqRiqxCNbJll2xt10KbOa?dl=0

Have just completed 1 set, but the frequency distribution across the band was much flatter after putting in 1 piece behind the speakers.

With reference to my earlier post, any suggestions that my equipment should orientate 90 degrees so that my speakers are placed on the 4.7m side? Or should i just keep it as it is on the 2.9m side and projecting longer?

Rgds,
Tim

Hi all,

Have got myself a Thiel CS2.4 recently and am having problems with placing it properly.
My room is approximately 4.7m long and 2.9m wide.
It is a dedicated listening room in a 4-room HDB flat.

Any recommendations on how to place the speakers?
Imaging is so far so good. However, the bass response is pretty much different when I stand to listen (much better) as compared to when I am sitting.

An current arrangement of my room as per the picture below.

Appreciate all responses for experimentation.
Thanks in advance.
Tim

Why not try it out? I've switched my system in my audio room a few times over the years before I finally settled on it's current configuration. No substitute for actual listening (compared to room mode calculations, simulations, and measurements). :)

Second the thought, although I personally prefer them as is.

Yes. I've switched to listening at the width with the set up placed on the length.
Decided to deal with the bass issues with traps.
Have built 6 panels and am experimenting what's the best position for the traps.

Here is little more insight into Thiel's history and inner workings by Tom Thiel who was one of the founding partners of Thiel Audio, and Jim's brother. There is lot to read in there. Have fun.

https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/thiel-owners-2?page=79

". . . I'm the "other Thiel".  My brother Jim was the design engineer who was fluent in all matters technical.
I was the manufacturing guy who built the product and production systems. Although I am conversant in the
technicalities, I am not an audio engineer and am here to learn from you guys and develop a possible path for
upgrade of classic products. ..."

We are not second hand dealer , all items we sell as used are tradedin from our customer and we don't rate it condition but for the buyer to decide on it own.
From time to time we may sell off some New but open up used for rental/standby/loan items and to ensure they cant be sold as Brand new , we will dispose off the box.
