Wow this evoke bookshelf having copper coils instead of their signature aluminium. Are they more superior than the special 40?? Better frequency coverage too.

In general audio fanatics are very rare breeds in Singapore. The sound bar band wagon is the current trend where all music is streamed not played. The focus is lifestyle and not necessarily quality - good enough will do. I know of folks that are more keen in paying for https://sg.creative.com/soniccarrier/ versus a proper AV setup for the same money.

I think this impacts all major audio brand...

it's also because housing is getting smaller n family size is starting to get bigger again so less space for full setups

if you did not notice. evoke bookshelfs are all 6ohms. only Center/floorstanders are 4ohms. imo not easy to drive.

FWIW I auditioned a bunch of soundbar available in the market and have not found any that would immerse you the way a good Stereo or proper AV setup would. It’s just pure physics...

Hope you got your cables sort out! :)

DJQ, special 40 also 6ohms. Tested at AVone, excite x18 4ohm and special 40 6 ohms. At the same volume from hegel h190, special 40 play louder and fuller. I tot the more resistant in ohm draw lesser power from amp?

On Evoke, Otto said in AVS:
" If our engineers are able to make a new version better than an older, more expensive one, we consider that a success
Pleased to hear that.

That 4 or 6 ohms is a nominal figure..
The ability to play loud also depends on the components as well as the resistance.
