Looking on the bright side...well done Ian! It would have been a $8mio deal with a Timbuktoon bank if Rick was around.
Yes, I agreed. At least they got rid of Rick Parry which imo did not do LFC justice.....

...and they just boarded the plane for Italy an hour ago :)

And are by now slinking home.

Hmmmm... makes the 1-1 I watched in Florence between Fiorentina and Arsenal 10 yrs ago seem a reasonably good outcome, considering I schlepped all the way there.  And this was a Fiorentina that still featured the great "Batigol", who inevitably got Fiorentina's goal (IIRC).
There is no dark side of the moon really.  Matter of fact, it's all dark.

an away loss in the CL isn't the end of the campaign

hopefully this is a timely kick up the arse for this weekend.

Arsene Wenger: "Kick up the arse?! Liverpool are anti-football!"

But seriously...I think this shows there's a big difference between playing Hull and playing Fiorentina.

Most of the time, I was switching to watch Barca vs Kiev. Wat a world apart! REDS were like boys kicking around aimlessly esp. during 1st half. By 75th min, I went to bed.

Well, some might argue tat such performance shldnt compare in EPL. But IMHO, it proves that there will be glimpses of such under-par performance in EPL - REDS were total lost souls in 1st half. how to challenge for league title....tsk...tsk....tsk....sigh

it's not abt the loss. but whether we lost it gracefully. they will brounce back, of coz, but the big picture of league title or even CL title  ::) :-\ :'(

Am with you here on the CL match although it is going to be between Fiorentia, Lyon and us for the 2 places.

5 CL cups in the bag but with missing PL title for so long, no brainer what I prefer first.

Hmm...the time might be coming when Rafa pays for constantly blaming the owners for Liverpool's underachievements. There's only so much moaning that Hicks and Gillette can tolerate, I think.

Did not watch the match over the weekend but beach ball or not, this season is fast spiralling out of control in the league. I wish the players would shut up mouthing off to the press about turning corners (read - Carra) and just pull their socks up and do something on the field.

They should sack Benitez. He is too rigid and does not have  the creativity for the EPL. Too meticulous. Dare not take risk

Biggest problem with Rafa is that he does not know how to build a cohesive team with whatever player option he has. Never felt the team has gel all these time under his care, SAF & Jose are both much much better in this aspect. In fact, when I watched the Wigan vs Man City game, I felt even an average taem like Wigan, their overall team chemistry is already better than that of Liverpool's current teamwork.

when the team sheet was out last Saturday aginst Sunderland, I fell off the chair, spilled 2 cans of Tiger beer and sobbed all the way till the whistle blew - which then I could start breathing normally  :-[

The gaffer obviously had no idea how to deal with the loss of Stevie & Torres. The mid-field and front were craps; and what the hell happened to Carra this season, esp. after the knock with Skrtel on that dreadful, fated match against Spurs  :-\

Later home match aginst Lyon - all bets are on the table  8)

I am preparing to watch 变节 Laughing Gor - Turning Point via PCH, just in case!

As a United fan, Liverpool's loss to Lyon last night actually makes me more worried about Sunday's game. Liverpool will be fired up, and besides that, it's just hard to imagine any Liverpool team - even one apparently in shambles - will lose five straight games.

But I'm just wondering what all you Liverpool fans think - if Liverpool do lose to United this Sunday, should Rafa be sacked? Or should that wait until (or if) Liverpool are knocked out in the Champions League qualifying stages?

IMHO if Liverpool were to be knocked out of the ECL, and given their position in the EPL, there would be nothing significant left to play for this season, and you might as well get a new manager in to start rebuilding.
