I know  :-[  Such a waste  :-\  but it's juz a wishing.....my head tells me Owen wont fit into the current setup, esp. Rafa's battleplan.

p/s I hope Owen dont come back to Liverpool. He's too injury prone.

some how doubt Rafa likes Dutch Robben. Hopefully (but guess not possible now, seems tat he will commit his future in Spain) tat we can hoot David Villa  :-\  Carlos Tevez is a good catch, but........

know I might be bashed...but it might be nice if Owen returns. I miss those 'instinct' through passes and 'intimate' understanding betw Stevie & Owen  8)

NO WAY!
That sly ungrateful brat held Liverpool to ransom when he left for Real Madrid for just 8 million pounds a few days before the season starts!
That was the year Benitez joined Liverpool.

Things did not work out for him in Real and he wanted out so that he could have a shot at the world cup.
Liverpool went in for him and if he is really liverpool hearted, he would have been able to force Real to sell him back to Liverpool for 8 million pounds back.... but no... he went for BIG money Newcastle!

To me, he is getting his just desserts... Even Hull City is not keen on him....
This man has no Loyalty to speak off - unlike Gerard and Torres.

I'm really hoping Pool will pounce on Arjen Robben. He may be selfish but arent them all? He can operate on the left & right. Riera got no puff to last the full 90min & he can only play on the left. OR another player of rafa's admiration is Saviola. he may have past his prime, but he's a tricky player & any teams would love to have his services. Very complimentary to Torres upfront. Then we can see the triangle of Torres-Gerrard-Saviola.

Vieri

Nope....  Benitez love players who play to his detailed instructions... which is why he rates Dirk K so highly.
Robben is not such players....  He is too creative for Benitez liking imho.

Why I had to splash out on Glen Johnson - Liverpool FC boss Rafa Benitez
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-fc/liverpool-fc-news/2009/06/23/why-i-had-to-splash-out-on-glen-johnson-liverpool-fc-boss-rafa-benitez-100252-23949351/
“We have a plan,” added Benitez. “We can sign one more player if necessary, but that’s without any players leaving.”

The Reds boss has made it clear that he would not welcome bids for either player, but while Real have publicly stated their interest in Alonso has ended, Barcelona are refusing to give up on Mascherano despite Benitez’s very firm hands-off warning.

First to leave, however, could be Arbeloa.

“Alvaro Arbeloa has had a very good season but he has one year left on his contract,” said the Reds boss. “If he signs that will be good because we will have more competition, but if we get a good offer we will have to consider it.”

...personally I couldn't care left or right if areola leaves

maybe he shouldnt have argue with jamie - the future LFC manager/coach  ;)  Think that moment of fury had hammered the nail deep in  ;D

He is OK, though. But a better replacement will be good  ;)

First to leave, however, could be Arbeloa.

Now tats y Rafa buys Johnson....£17m  ??? :o 8)  something tells me there's better EXCUSE than that  :-\  He's OK lad, but £17m  ??? ::) :o

better to ENSURE Alsonso & Mascherano stay

-----------------------------------------------------------
Benitez defends £17m Johnson transfer fee

"We were looking for a player of quality and also somebody who is British because of the new Champions League rules. Glen Johnson fits both categories.''

-----------------------------------------------------------
Javier Mascherano, according to reports in South America, has been making further goo-goo noises about suitors Barcelona. It looks as though the Liverpool man has set his heart on being Lionel Messi's water-carrier at Camp Nou.

Dirt Kuyt - a sports columnist once aptly described him as a craftless winger who can't shoot straight. I'm beginning to question Rafa's wisdom at times while he persisted with playing Kuyt. He may be hardworking but for God's sake, Liverpool signed him as a striker NOT as a hardworking winger. And dont forget that Kuyt is a Dutch!!! All Dutch players are meant to possess natural skills in placing ball instead of balloning up in the air & Dutch have more football sense & trickery than any other football nation (besides Brazil)
Cmon Rafa. make a bid for Robben. This player will complete the hunt for a real out-and-out winger.

wow!. tks bro for the news. I am reading it with hopeful expectation. Hopefully Torres could help to pull some strings  ;D Tis will be a more warming and breaking news than GJohnson, which still gives me the creepy doubt of how he can fit in - another failed signing like R.Keane  ::) ???

Hopefully we can keep the entire squad there, if Alonso and Mascherano still there for next season and with an addition of new left winger, then we are almost perfect to chase for the league title next year  ;D

Real Madrid has already made offer to Liverpool to acquire Alonso and Arbeloa but didn't match the right price... just crossing my finger :-[

If barca wants marche, they have to give up yaya + cash but alonso is untouchable anyway he still has 3 years on his contract but he's sulking because rafa wanted to sell him last season for barry, him wanting an englishman but last i heard joe cole's available
