The RS 1 is larger and has a bigger woofer, there is more bass and the sound a little more out of the box. It sounds more lively and has a brighter treble.
The Usher is more neutral and has a leaner balance.
You should audition for yourself which one is for you and bear in mind the RS 1 costs more.

IF you Search  this forum, you will notice heaps of brothers here using everything from Flr standers to bookshelves.
FYI most of the time, only the first 10w or so are used in most situations except in dynamic transients.
And the RS 6 isn't that big either :D
Cheers

Did anyone mentioned using the "low" powered MP 5?

Read here to see what it has been used with...

not to even say.. a 300b~6-8 watts.. 2a3~ 2-3 watts... :P
maybe the human ear isn't good enough. we need measurements, figures, numbers, calculations to tell and convince us what good sound is. or do we have to satisfy an unspoken insecurity??

Just tried this combination, thanks to dandon

The Usher gives nice neutral sound just short of being warm, with a well controlled treble which won't bite, but gives v good detail for not much more money than what people pay for a pair of good stands

The mids are well expressed, but the presentation and scale are just a bit small, and they won't give floorstanders much competition in the lower  frequencies, but as a whole they are very high VFM and will play happily on the end of the Ipod and Dared

You need to turn up the volume dial a bit more with the 87db Ushers, but what comes out is highly musical.

V nice indeed

I see that there are new posters claiming the MP 5 cannot drive the Usher 520s.... so I am just bringing this up and wondering aloud if these posters have actually owned and auditioned the two together....

yes i try it myself and i'm not the only one that agree on this.. i do agree that this amazing small amp can drive the usher to "this level" but i really doubt its performance as the TS play from jazz to metal.

moreover everyone has its own taste of music and judgement.. we're jus giving some opinion. not need to dig out a thread to "shoot tat poster".

anyway thanx for your old review thread so our friend that need opinion can refer here as well.

You can have an opinion, thats the freedom of posts.
But I then disagree that the MP 5 cannot drive the Ushers and yes I owned both items..
Cheers.

i do know what u mean but to correct a bit i did not say cannot drive but not enough to drive base on the TS's music preference. anyway, let him decide..
