Sigh, here we go again. Seems like when one studio does it, all the others start to jump on the bandwagon. Following Fox Home Video's lead earlier this year when they announced a number of one-disc reissues of previous two-disc special editions, Columbia has just announced new one-disc repackagings of three of their biggest catalog hits. Debuting on 8/27 are Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, and Lawrence of Arabia. The Close Encounters and Final Fantasy discs are simply repackaging of the same versions that were released last year, only without the second disc of extras. Lawrence, however, is just the movie spread over two discs, with no extras at all, a la Superbit. Retail is $19.95 for Close Encounters and Final Fantasy, and $27.95 for Lawrence of Arabia.
