applefuzion, finally got your XR55. Not much diff - hmmm... what were you having before - a XR25? I'd be surprised if there's not much diff heard if compared with regular analog AVRs.

What source are you using? Make sure you're using digital input for your DVD/CD. Analog source not exactly great on XRs.

Let it run for a while but no need to be 100hrs. Can be much shorter.

 :)

i cannot believe what i;ve done .... i have only 5.1 setup and i pluged my rear surround to the wrong ports in my XR55!!! that why i find that the sound of SW3 and all DVD in DD format dont have rear surr. sound  :P .
then i decided to cut another pair of cable to enable BI-wire .....

the result:
WOW!!!!!
Audio: WOW .... never heard those sound b4 while play the same CDDA with my old Philip AVR  :D

But i havd not time to test the 5.1 surr. thou. as it was too late at night my wife is scolding me leow. will try tonight i believe will sound very good.

Ordered my XR55 on 06 Nov 2005 from Amazon at US$229.99.

It has just arrived at VPOST address in US.

The shipping charge is S$93.07 but after UOB discount, S$74.46.

That would give the total to be around S$465.44.

The UPS status for mine is in Vernon, CA now, juz a short distance away from vpost office and slated for 17Nov delivery. With luck, should be receiving the xr55 same time as you.

Hopefully amazon packed it small as I'm trying to collect it from their smartlocker.

Hi, thinking of ordering XR55 from Amazon. Wonder where to get the transformer. Can recommend which transformer to chose and where to buy.

Sorry no pic at the moment. U can buy the transformer from Homefix. Ratings should be at least 200 Watts. Price is about $40.

Brands vary. Some have bought "Newstar" but mine is "PowerPac".

I got a Newstar 230W for $30+ (less than $40) from a shop in Sim Lim Tower.

There're a lot of electronic shops there - sure no problem to find.

Thanks, just want to be sure how it looks like before going down or else like a dork like that  ;D Anyway, the other time when I was asking about the step-down transformer from this shop is SLS 3rd flr, the lady quoted $100+ if usage for an amp so I was like apprehensive...

Be warned that you are really at the mercy of amazon when it comes to shipping charges. They packed mine really big (76.0X 57.0X 41.0 cm, volumetric weight 29.6kg) and the resultant shipping charges from vpost is 177.86 after discount!!

Just one question where should i ask to buy this to enjoy better price ?

should be at my house in a few days time ;)

etnt,

sorry to hear about your vpost charges.  Maybe we should start writing to Amazon asking why such inconsistency in
packaging for the same product.
