I did this while moving and when my speakers were packed up.

Smyth Research Realiser A8 - now replaces by Dolby Atmos DTS X Auro 3D compatible 16 channel version called A16

Hifiman HE6 with a headphone amp - stunning clarity and deep base.

Crowson Tactile Transducer to replace rumble from subwoofer

You really won’t miss your speakers

You could replace the HE6 with an easier to drive planar magnetic headphone that could be driven straight from the Smyth.

Nice... I was contemplating the A16 for a while. Still haven't take the plunge as cost is high and I was evaluating if I would really be frequently using headphone method.

Is is possible to hear from u what's the sq difference and price difference between the two? The A16 is around 5k?

I still haven’t received my A16. They recently revised the board to include eARC because the Panasonic board they used was being refreshed. So shipments are delayed.

Oic...

How about difference between the A8 Vs the HE6 :)

Exploring a headphone solution. But Atmos optional to be more practical (more possibilities)

Thanks Francis. :) A while ago I was keen in the creative sxfi but heard the connectivity limitations to the HT system so kiv it until I forgotten ha..

Maybe now should revive this

How does the connection work if I play my movies usually thru BD player or media player ah... Using oppo 203 BD player and zidoo media player. Both with usb ports. Source is BD or HDD.

As far I know, it has to go through a PC base unit and not thru’ a BD or Media player!

Oic... Shikes. Hope they can come up with a solution that can go thru AVR or BD player in future.

If connect via laptop for the audio using the sxfi, I assume the image can still be projected via HDMI to my TV display to watch? :)

I am sure you can still project the video on the TV via a HDMI cable.

The A8 is the Smyth Processor and headphone amp (which should work with an easy to drive headphone like an Oppo PM3)

The HE6 was a former flagship Hifiman headphone. The new model comes with a speaker terminal adaptor so you can connect a proper speaker amplifier to drive the headphones. It’s that hard to drive. I know a guy who uses a Devialet Expert 220 Pro to drive his Hifiman.

Bro, unlikely it will hit our shore due to our small market.
