HT Solo Den to Dedicated HT Room
« on: January 24, 2020, 09:22 »
Have decided a couple of months back to decomm my solo den to a dedicted HT setup in my MBR. Although I enjoyed the den a lot but I feel it is too "solo".

Again, totally grateful to my wife to agree to having the MBR turn into a HT and the solo den to our sleeping place.

Now I can enjoy it with my wife while thw children has the living room setup.

Some pictures of my defunct solo den and dedictated HT room. Apologies for the amatuerish photos

Thanks. MBR is the biggest closed room for my place so is the best candidate.

After having it for a few weeks, my experience...

1. Will not be going back to a tv screen. The 100" screen feels good.
2. Love hearing dialogue coming from the centre of the screen.
3. Sound ia much better in a closed room and easier to handle it too.
4. Likely will change the current projector (Optoma UHD60) to probably the JVC N5/N7 soon. Feel that image is now the weakest link, though still  enjoyable.
5. Grateful that the room had a large bay window that could simulate a baffle wall. Lol

I have only watch stuff in the living room setup less than 5 times since and my children are now taking every opportunity to watch their stuff in there too. (On occasions I am out)

I dont think I will be making any major changes with what I have now in the HT and living room until I shift to another place and if or when that happens, will definitely find a place that has a closed room  that can handle larger screen, LR speakers behind the screen.

After having the Optoma UHD60 for 90 days and seeing JVC NX5 in action, decided to replace it with the NX5.
Probably get it next week.
