Bluetooth Speaker chat - what do you use?
« on: November 21, 2019, 12:59 »
I know it seems almost a travesty to talk about this, but BT has moved from being merely a vassal for low end compressed music to being a media for good quality sound.
But let's start talking about the low end stuff first. I'm sure most of us have some of these, eg a JBL Flip / Extreme for example..
At last count I reckon I have 8 portable devices and another three which require power :)

A few months ago my younger son attended a poly forum and got a free Bluetooth speaker. I was surprised that the sound quality is not bad with clarity and quite good bass. It is loud and quite heavy but I could not find what brand is this speaker. My elder son bought a JBL clip 3 during 11.11 sales but I find that it is not as good as the free Bluetooth speaker. Branded goods might not give you the best sound quality and I believe the main focus of JBL is the speaker is light to carry around.

My current "singer" everyday in office

Lucky hoot at Mustafa @ the price of $35. MiniToons outlets selling $59.
Can goes quite loud in 8x8sqm space without distortion. If on FM mode, full charge battery cannot last for a day, BT connection lasts 3days in single charge.

At home...

X-mini Supa which can last me for more than single week in single charge since i play very low volume next to bed.

Just saw this thread.

I'm a fan of X-mini. Have a pair of their Xoom's which are paired for stereo for the office, and a very large Infiniti for the bedroom.

I have 3 of these small, single-driver BT speakers, Ferrari red (metal), pink (metal), and wood (real wood)

Single driver topology sounds very nice, musical, and dynamic. Bass extension not too bad for its small compact size.

Rechargeable, 8 hours play time.

Buy in china - SGD$80
Buy in SG - SGD$120 with free leather strap

when i travel, i look forward to come back to hotel room and turn on this speaker and enjoy my music.
dun even bother to watch tv

Whenever i went to GIANT, always see this REDIFUSSION lookalike...

...unfortunately, it's not that portable as it relies on power supply, no built in batt...

https://www.qoo10.sg/item/NAKAMICHI-NAKAMICHI-PLAYLINK-MLOS3-MULTI-LINK-PORTABLE-BLUETOOTH-SPEAKER/659571676

Just got this nakamichi speaker, it has a silk dome tweeter. Imho or my ears in this case , it’s better than Sony, Bose and others. I also like the klipsch heritage groove for its clarity..

Best BT speaker I heard to date is the Harman Kardon Onxy 5 for $250. Dunno how HK managed to wring that kind of tuneful bass extension from a Hand Bag. LOL. Beats any JBL for refinement too. Can listen long without fatigue yet still clear enough. woot  :)

This is the best so far but I am not prepared to pay over $600 for it.

Ikea Eneby 30 (30cm x 30cm)is a seriously good no frills semi-portable speaker for $130. Only connection is via bluetooth, and earphone jack line-in. The Eneby 30 is mains powered. Has optional brackets for wall mounting and as a stand respectively.

There is also Eneby 20 (20cm x 20cm) that can be made portable by buying a battery pack and carrying handle. The Eneby 30 has 2X mid/woofer + soft dome tweeter, while the Eneby 20 selling at below $100 has 1X mid/woofer + soft dome tweeter.

just grab a LG Musicflow H3/H5/H7 from carousell.

They do bluetooth and Spotify via Google cast. Buy 2 to form a stereo pair or do group play like Sonos.

If you dont mind 2nd hand, they are a steal at below 100 bucks.

Although I have BT speakers, I still prefer Creative Sound Blaster Line Out connection.
The sound is very much cleaner across the frequency.
Just my own preference.
