Collaro Audio Turntable Mat
« on: October 10, 2019, 00:25 »
Just sharing about this new TT mat... There was some buzz over at the Linn Forum about this new mat.. So I decided to try one out.. Price is GBP 99 plus shipping.

https://collaroaudio.co.uk/

Did a comparison with my standard Linn felt mat.. I'm impressed.... bigger soundstage.. better Prat... etc I'm very pleased with it.

Those of you using Linn LP12, this is a very good upgrade.. It's supposed to work well on the Garrard TT as well.

There is also a write up on clocking the TT....TTs like the LP12 with inner and outer platter do sound better after clocking... try it....  ;)

New products at the end of July...hmmmmm I think I will pass for now. anyway my LP12 is under upgrading at this time. Just finished a full Valhalla board recap and a few other mods.

Clocking is old time trick...used to do that even on my Lenco 75 build with the spindle and platter alignment. Clear Audio have had a pin punch on the bearing top and platter too. Its about balance.

I have a pile of stuff that pushes out squiggly waveforms from smaller squiggly waveforms that sometimes come from 1's and 0's.
It's wonderful to behold as long as you don't let the magic smoke out.

Life is short! Enjoy the music while it plays, when it stops, there might be a chair for you...or  maybe not.

Didn't know you had an LP12... Anyway do try diy a geddon or Norton Air Power if you can.... will perform better than the valhalla.

I got too many TT's to spend too much on additional upgrades. Just want to get it running again and play with it to see if its better or as good as my other TT's

Sadly its hard enough to find time to play one TT these days  :-X

Only got it the other week from a kind bro who let it go to a good home where it can get some TLC and live to play again.

Read again carefully......Clocking method is for TT with inner and outer platter... you clock the inner and outer platter...for the mat absolutely no need to clock.... ;D

Would this be a good replacement for the wool mat that comes with rega p9, rp10, planar 10 models? Those often have an issue with sticking to records due to static

The Collaro mat seems less static prone compared to the standard Linn felt mat.
I've no experience with it on the Rega.. but go over to Collaro Audio's facebook page.. there's a few photos of the mat with Rega TTs..
Also from their facebook... Sky Audio is the new Singapore distributor.. you can check with Steve of  Sky Audio.
