DVD Code 1 Discs
« on: August 03, 2019, 06:14 »
Got a LG blu ray player that plays only DVD Code 3 discs. Issue here is my existing old Pioneer DVD player may not be compatible to my Philips UHD tv. Connection is via RGB cable and the video image is bluish. I have lots of Code 1 movies. Suggestions welcomed. Thanks.

Change player.
Not joking. Even though ur Pioneer DVD player may be mid/high end model, it's still lack of HDMI output in comparison to recent years makes. Connections thru component video is a little tricky and a big test to ur patience to fiddle thru the tuning of different RGB levels to get better pictures.
Newer generation players with HDMI outputs not only upscale ur DVD resolution, but also offer an ease on picture tuning.
If u're not willing to let go of this still working good'ol Pioneer DVD player, another solution is to get a 'component to HDMI converter' for video connection.

You can try to hack the player to multi-region dvd playback.  I managed to do it for my LG UP970

Look for BP250, the same hack works for UP970.
Not sure about UBK90 though.
