  • So Long As I Am Happy, Who Cares !

I have subject Desk Top pc.

There is a HDMI port and a LAN Port on the Right side.

For the HDMI port I can attach External  hard disk . I can retrieve documents or Excel kept inside and amend and save inside.
I can also access my Handphone pictures and post them on website.

So that makes it a INPUT HDMI right.

I have also a LAN port. Is this LAN port a Input port or Output port ? Cant find features on Internet.

Any advise appreciated.

I think you're mistaken, those should be USB ports, not HDMI.
USB are bi-directional. LAN port is also bi-directional, just plug that into your router.

Whether your ports are on the left or right, there should be only 1 LAN port, and it's bi-directional.
And HDMI does not plug into external hard disk, USB does.

The pic below taken from Dell manual. Is the back of your PC like this?

The 2 USB ports can be used to connect to things like an external HDD or thumbdrive and also mouse and keyboard.
The network port is used to connect to a LAN port (from your internet router) with a network cable.
Your All-in-one PC apparently has an HDMI input - you can connect this to a DVD player or gaming machine. Then your PC can behave like a monitor.

Uncle tictactoh, what exactly is your question regarding the LAN and "HDMI" ports? Members already tell you have mistook the USB ports as "HDMI" ports. That is where all external USB devices like your HDD, flash drive, printer cable, your phone connector etc can be attached to read/write data to/from your All-in-One desktop PC. As for the LAN port, that is connecting to internet and I believe you already connected a cable to that to access the Internet.

It doesn't matter whether your Power connector or ports are on the right or left side...the picture posted by dbchoong can be a different model sporting the same input and output ports. No issue there.  ;)

So what exactly is your question(s) again?

My Dell has Wifi built in.

The HDMI can be used to access my handphone or charge my handphone. It can also access my WD 1 TG ext. disk for Word/Excel

I like to know whether I can use a HDMI cable and plug into one of the 3 Inputs of the Switcher ( which is plugged into the Pioneer Plasma TV Receiver ) and project YOUTUBE to my TV monitor.

Life is a learning process.

I bought a Chromecast Ver. 3 as I was told I can watch Youtube on the Tv monitor.

Someone said " ...It's ok if for example, handphobe on Wi-Fi but TV on wired. As long as same network...  "

My Dell PC has built-in Wifi.

My TV is on cable but I was told Chromecast 3 has built in Wifi

How do I use my Handphone or preferably my PC to connect and watch Youtube.

Thank you everyone.

Wow, first time I have come across an HDMI port can be used for charging and connection to External HDD ??? ::)

Are you sure you are referring to HDMI and not USB Tyoe A??

Most HDMI ports in PC are output only for connection to TV or external Monitors! Some for connection to Blu-ray players or Game consoles, etc!!

Sorry I mean USB not HDMI !

I was asking if it HDMI can be used to connect to the Switcher. I have previously tried but nothing happened.

Can’t you watch YouTube in your PC and Handphone with the YouTube App?
