Decent show at a decent price. So much more to see and hear than the one in Singapore. Our local show really can skip. Now the gripes:

1. Please no more uncle music. These uncles won’t be around much longer. Play some decent and modern music to attract new crowds.
2. Starke HT demo with storm audio is too loud! Volume at -3dB is bordering on discomfort. Although high volume is easier to showcase the subs but it’s not realistic to watch movies at this volume for more than 20mins. A decent volume with good sub and surround effects are less of a turn off and consumers can relate better. Wife commented can’t wait for the demo to end, and feeling nauseous after 15 mins demo.

Is it due to the room modes that caused the speakers to be overtly bright? At -3db below reference?! Wow that madness!

It’s just loud. Speakers are not too bright, just too loud. Bass is too loud. Too much of a good thing is not good.

Anyone knows the date and venue for this year’s KL international AV show?

I just came back last night as some kakis went up so I tack along , the show is much larger than Singapore for 2018.

They have 5 levels , I would say mixture of Disc or record sellers , Home theatre audio and visual , got Lelong area for flat screen TV amps and audio stuff . Hi fi on the 2 nd  and first level got a few on display and some have demos .

Overall is worth the trip if you plan to go Makan trip and durian trip . It will be more complete .

+1...must strike a balance. If your ears starts to get fatigue in every clips showcased...this is definitely an issue with the room (beyond control) no matter how good speakers are and the raving reviews received for certain brand of AVR and subwoofers.

Sometimes I wonder is such show events truly the best medium/platform to showcase products (Projector is a different thing altogether as Ong as proper calibration with proper screen size and coupled with some demo worthy imagery put together...just like JVC projectors...no need to talk, let the picture do the sales talking for you. But for products like AVR (no matter StormAudio, Anthem, Trinnov, DataSat etc), speakers and subwoofers, a proper room setup and proper calibration are a must-have to show the very best of these 'sound' products...unfortunately, showroom and event halls aren't the most ideal. It can make a fantastic product sound like crap and that's doing the brand and product a disservice since it is doing "more harm tan good"...

As long as there is uncle money, there will be uncle music.  Please remember, you'll be a uncle one day.

What’s uncle music? The only I can think of is songs from Dire Straits “Brothers in Arms” album or maybe from Aaron Neville.  :o Eeeks

More on genre...maybe. I’ll take MJ’s hiccup sounds over Aaron Neville’s whiny voice with slight yodel ... anytime. Haha.
