The reflection off the handle caught my eye, look realistic. The colours are nice.

Yes quite nice , not bad. This toy story 4 has got very good video quality, demo worthy stuff for video. This animation looks very good on the BenQ HDR , doesn’t have the grainy effects and pic is much smoother and colours are much more natural as can be seen, not too saturated , the HDR effect looks good on this movie

Alf, have u turned on pixel enhancer? Looks like it’s turned on, gotta switch that off. That feature affects the colours as well . That explains why u need to move colours and tint up, ideally we don’t have to touch the colours and tint settings . Disable the pixel enhancer

Colours, tint and contrast best left at default. Tune for white balance instead, that brings much satisfaction for HDR

Do give it a try ....

Yes you are right i did touch on the pixel enhancer . Will go check how much of a diffence the colour changes .

As the tint and colour adjaustment it is to follow the basic rules for colour calibartion using the Disc method , it is to allow balace between both . Those good projector will have a blue built in tint for you to do the test and adjustment . It works better than colour filter .

Base on what most user that i have done , they are looking foward to richer and more pop images . So again it is up to individual prefference . I usually tweak for video is 2 settings , games , bit of ambient setting , child friendly mode ,HDRs and Hybrid log mode ( D - Cinema ) .

Thanks for sharing Ron , this will allow more user to have option on which type they like and direction calibration level to go for .

Do post more picture and findings for sharing .

Yes I can see the grass, it’s a bit washed out, the green has got too much glow to it. So far I think the best would be to copy the factory calibrated rec709 colour  settings on to HDR, then disable all the enhancements like pixel, motion enhancer etc. Copy the exact white balance settings as well to HDR profile. Much more satisfying

Then limit the output on the bluray player to 300nits or maximum 400nits according to the capabilities of the BenQ 5700

Give it a shot! It’s worth a shot

Then compare with the one u have posted above

Here is the settings that I’m using that I find to be quite good for HDR10 on the BenQ 5700 at my place, with a screen 135” 1.1 gain at recommended distance. It may vary at others place. In arriving at the below settings, I compare to and forth between the calibrated rec709 settings and the HDR on the OLED

I set colour down by 10 clicks, as I found that the colours in HDR mode is over saturated , this is much better set at 40

I set the dynamic iris to high, turn off WCG and used brilliant colour on. Turning off WCG provided a better light output

Very important here is switch all processing to off, especially pixel enhancer, that produced sort of a grainy effect on screen, which I didn’t like, it changes the colours as well

This can be at default 0. U can adjust this for different types of movie content. Need not be fixed at 0. For darker scenes this can move up to +2. If white is clipping then -2 works too, depending on source

White balance had the most significant impact to end result, I went with this

Finally tweaking the individual colours to mirror those used in the calibrated rec709 settings as it is from the same colour wheel

I’m quite happy now with the BenQ 5700 on HDR10 mode. Comparing to out of the box settings

With the W2700 getting a new HDR Auto Tone Mapping in the just released 1.0.5 firmware, perhaps there will be an update for the 5700 soon. Wonder if it reads the max nits like the JVC system....

hi, any owners experience loud grinding noise from the projector when dynamic iris is activated? I tried low, medium and high but all seems too distracting to be used.

Yes, I do. I couldn't take it and switched it off.
