I had my optical block go bad on a 2 years old Hd1 and JVC can't repair it due to the lack of know how. This is back in 2009.

Yes, OE can be a PITA. Nobody wants that to happen. We can only hope that the engineering gets better with each iteration to minimize hardware failure.

I hope u r enjoying it back then. It’s one of the best transmissible 3LCD which can rival JVC blacks back then. Unfortunately Epson cited the panel and the hardware were too expensive for mass production (so I read from other websites). It’s a shame else Epson actually have a winner here.

I was informed by SD that all Sony 4k laser projectors have a full 5-year warranty

Wow bro tsammyc, long time no see...how's life? Thanks for sharing the info on the Optical Engine (OE) part of the warranty.
Yo Des, its been a long time since we started down this hobby :) Retired now and looking for a 4K projector so following your recent reviews closely to decide.

Glad to hear u r doing well. Hate to disappoint you. There won’t be a review coming up for the JVC N series projector, at least “not” in this forum.

Note that Sony warranty is only 1 year for the optical block. My HW40ES experienced well-known SXRD deterioration of optical block after 2 years and Sony said optical block out of warranty although overall warranty is 3 years. Cost to repair exceeds price of projector.

This is true. I think Sony is quite misleading saying wty is 3 years.
