Spades are the best as it allow for the maximum area of contact.  The screws enable high pressure to be applied, compressing and eliminating uneven surface contact, pushing the mating surfaces to bite into each other.

Banana is perhaps the worst  because it only allows point contact and rely on spring pressure.   Even the WBT expanding banana jack will still lose out to the spade.

Thanks for your recommendations.
I had already gotten Belden speaker cables and the electrical cable from LHS before I saw this.

One question about banana plugs... what benefits do they give besides the convenience when plugging?
I was going to go plugless.

gold plated banana plugs offer to tweak the sound signature to being warmer
platinum plated ones offer improved dynamics.
rhodium ones with speed and better decay.
Silver one better details
the quality of the material use on the banana plug itself is also crucial to how your system will sound.
cheap brass vs pure copper vs pure silver. there IS that obvious difference.

Banana plug has few prices ranging from $1 up to $15 per piece or even higher.
Have you ever seen corroded banana plug? what will you think if it is connected to your setup?
Best is a direct plug but there is a risk of being shorted to the case, therefore, I use a good banana plug at AVR side then plug directly at speaker side.

(BTW, I also don't like to use a condom, direct 'plug' in is always best, direct contact, hehehehehe... ;D )

I like the idea of direct too and I have always used direct to both ends and never had an issue.
Are you able to elaborate more on the shorting?
How and why does that happen?

- HDMI cables  - Both normal and active
Recommend to buy from Monoprice. They have certified 4K cables that are ultra slim. Just brought a bunch and all working well. Their active cable has been very reliable so far. If u need only short run, buy their 8k certified cable.

I saw that Monoprice is US website?
I can't wait long for the cables to arrive as they want to run it already.
Local online stores still possible.
Anyone knows also good local online stores to get HDMI cable?

If you need good and immediate, go to LHS at Sim Lim Tower. Ask for Belden cables and Robert will give you reasonably good value for money.

They are not bargain basement cheap, but reasonably good quality for the price.

Frankly, bare wire connections is fine, just keep a lookout on tarnish as it is exposed to the air!

Ahhh... I never had an issue with wire tarnish even when I was living opposite the sea and practically every metal part grew those green oxidation stuff but copper wires were good.

In my new place, I anticipate I would be turning on the air con quite frequently so this will keep humidity down and reduce the likelihood of tarnish.
I guess no issues running bare then.
