U couldn't expect much from BackDraft on visual quality lah... From laserdisc, till non anamorphic DVD release, until the final version I experienced, region 6 China PAL release and even the first FHD BD release, the pictures had always been little disappointing and not so top notch. My guess is perhaps not much mastering effort put in since DVD first release until today, when compared to pre BackDraft movies like StarWars as well as Indiana Jones.

Sound... On the other hand... Remastering should be much easier?

So which is the reference discs which is a must get? I suppose Aquaman is one.

I just got a Panasonic player thinking to get some nice UHD discs from Amazon?

For visual feats - get Mortal Engine (simply stunning 4K transfer, easily one of the cleanest PQ out there if you really want to showcase 4K)
For surrounds/bass/atmos effects - get Aquaman

I think the master copy itself is already not very good... :P
