I've used something similar, something you lower your stylus into...

Vinyl Passion Dust Buster Polymer Gel Stylus Cleaner https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004VEORZ0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_hfu-BbT90Q687

Like Vinyl Passion in principle but designed to be slim to fit on most platters. Vinyl Passion is too thick to fit

Zerodust, after using a modified fine hair cosmetic brush to clean off the big stuff.

There's also the Audio Technica AT637 electronic stylus cleaner and some Last Solution No.3.

But just using the brush is sufficient most times.

EDIT:
I've just read that some vinylheads online have been using those cheap melamine sponges as stylus cleaners. Has anyone here tried it?
I was looking for a cheaper DIY solution to Zerodust (Feck, those buggers are now so expensive?!) and came across it being mentioned several times.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but looks to me like the Vinyl Passion, DS and Zerodust are all basically the same product in different packaging?

All are polymer base but different recipe, they do harden with time. Then again they are the best stuff to keep the stylus in tip top condition .

I use the VP cleaner after every side. There are of course many variations of the same type of cleaner. I still have an AT 637 ultrasonic cleaner I bought decades ago but it rarely gets used since I changed from a brush to the VP type. The old AT is no longer made of course but Flux sell one that does the same job. I've heard that "Magic Eraser" gets good results but I haven't tried it as yet.

interesting.  so which is more effective?  VP cleaner or Flux hifi cleaner? :)

In the process of searching for one cleaner.  not very sure which is better.

To me, vp def cleans better than zerodust. Have not tried the ds audio 1 yet. Flux cleans the best for me, Looks like new aftet cleaning

I VERY rarely use my old AT ultrasonic cleaner, simply because the VP gel does the job just fine for me. The AT was bought in a different age where stylus cleaning was mostly just a quick go over with a small brush and maybe some proprietry liquid on occasion. Times have changed in stylus care technology and for once it seems to be for the better.
