Hi bro,I noticed you are an ONKYO receiver user and have heard the sound signature of Flagship Marantz Processor coupled with Emotiva.so would like to hear your comment.I was using one of flagship ONKYO from TX-NR model that's why I wonder whether house power (dynamic) of ONKYO is still in RZ model.Won't mind to visit you so I can hear the power of combination setup of Flagship Onkyo AV Network Receiver RZ-3100 11.2 Rythmik FV15HP (it is a 'beast') and Definitive Technology PROCINEMA SERIES
Very nice, thanks for sharing. You mentioned about the difference between British and American sound, between the kef R700 and the Polk Audio..Possible to elaborate a bit more on the sound and character differences?Hope to visit one of these days. Thanks! Sent from my X9009 using Tapatalk
Impression:Very cosy living envirionment. The back 2 DIY SUBS are MASSIVEeeeeeeeeeeee. Sitting sofa is in right position MLPMy review running though below track in sequence:Music ( Not sure what track lol ) :UK KEF : The KEF pair are smooth natural singersUS Polk Audio: Bass notes are coming out via the Polk Audio drivers.Somehow , find the PA bright suits HT more as the bass run muzzled throughout the notesHere come the real “ HT “ beast testI am not a really a “ graph” person. As we know watching a movie, need to have Punch, Kick butt or chest hit slam. POWERR.Movies:13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi ( ATMOS)Somehow don’t feel the “ punch’ of the gunshots Bass felt good with “ butt” feel and John Wick Part 1 ( Somehow its play at Dolby TruHD)Gun shots are dynamics power. The full dynamics are rally Blown out solid Fury (ATMOS) My favoruite Demo sceneFelt quite disappointed as the tank cannons firing from left to right or right to left are not distinictive enough. No separation. Tank shots have no “ much punch ass” feel shots12 STRONG ( Thor Lead actor)The Mortar scene shooting front to back awesome scene.Skate can respond on this as he mentioned in Cinema – the BACK LOADING Mortor punch are awesomeeee.Somehow I feel the surrounds engaging are not engaging to their max.Same as Fury effect. My personal feel after audit:I relly impressed by the BUILT quality of the massive 2 subs behind – Ported 18incher? Not sure if no atmos heights or no due to the surround KEFs at Front Heights and Back Heights , I find that the surrounds are not really full utilitzed in a way, no separtion distiniction. Side Polk Audio SL \SR are bigger bookshelfs though. The Emotiva with Marantz 8805 combo are awesome setup.Howoever, I am not sure due to the Audssey or due to the speakers range or Marantz, the Emotiva did provide the power which should up the extra DB but somehow still don’t feel the enough dynamics. Surrounds wise not sure if KEFs are enagaging . may Polk Audio surrounds will excel more?Maybe I am used to my “ Onkyo” RZ signature” whereby dynamics and surrounds are fully engaging.Room for Improvement:Suggest plan for 4 fasle Ceiling ATMOS HeightsPlace 1 subwoofer ( as front firing) in front stage for “ more punch” in FrontRemain 1 Subwoofer behind sofaOverall abovie is just my feel and input, open for sharing and improvement.Definitely an enjoyable sharing sessions and really I respect the 2 gentleman Hosts super thumbs up!:)Thanks a lot.
Do you happen to have DTS X demo disc ? Since your configuration is DTS X.
My impression is really very nice setup. Based on the 2 songs I heard, I feel that polkaudio is brighter and the bass extension is more dynamic. As for the kef, it is warmer. The bass is lesser as compared to polkaudio. Both are great speakers, its really depend on each preference of sound. For the movie part: Yes 13 hour is less dynamic than John wick 2. I believed is the source of the material where this morning, I re watch these 2 movies again at my hm. And from the -20 gain from my avr for both movies, John wick 2 actually sounded more dynamic and forceful. For 12 strong, it is really a good movie to showcase his equipment. I can hear the rockets flying from left to right and back and front. Feel exactly like watching in the cinema. The bass is really good. For fury like what rock123 has mentioned, the effect is not much as compared to 12 strong. I mean the cannon flying around.Lastly for the movie ready player one. Bass is good but cannot really hear the surrounding effect. Maybe the movie was just played for a short while.Overall impression very good and I still need to learn from everyone to improve my HT experience, therefore unable to comment much on what are the things need to improve. Maybe watching all the movies using physical discs can have a better experience as it is uncompressed instead of downloading files. This is what I think, hopefully never anger anyone regarding to this. Thanks.
