Caught this last weekend... Rami is fabulous!! He's definitely channeling Mercury. It was very hard to resist singing along aloud to the tracks onscreen... but overall the movie is just meh. Definitely worth catching for Queen fans though, the audio editing to blend vocals is pretty well done.  :)

There is a scene in the movie just after the anthem Bohemian Rhapsody was released and the screen is plastered with critics’ hellbent adjectives like “pastiche” and “contrived”, I am afraid these killer words described this biopic for me. This is a movie that ploughs through the usual plot-points but doesn’t have anything it wanted to announce to the audience. Whole thing feels like a compilation of Queen’s greatest hits, and the spaces between the important moments are painted in convenient broad strokes. I have a feeling Bryan Singer’s untimely departure from the project and the work of an uncredited director made the film feel disjointed.

A good music biopic is about the music; a great one is a lot more than that. This is just a good one.

I prefer "Days of our Lives" Documentary which depicts the band from inception to Freddie's death. There are many interviews with May, Deacon and Taylor throughout the doc that makes it more real. Alot of story untold too on how they did not really succeed in their first tour of the States. Some very interesting footages of their studio sets. Also a clip on how David Bowie inspired finger snapping feature in "Under Pressure".
Stewart Greyhawk 110" fix screen, Oppo BDP-203 BR player, Denon X4300H, Sony VM520ES Projector, Wilson Sasha II Speakers, Aerial Acoustic CC3B Center speaker, Esoteric UX-1 Limited SACD player, Audio Research Ref 6 Pre Amp, Stello DA220-MKII DAC, Jeff Rowland 201 Monoblock (centre channel), Jeff Rowland 312 Power Amp(L/R), Definitive 2xSuperCube 2 Subwoofer, VPI Scout TT, EAR 834P Phono stage, WireWorld Eclipse XLRs, Analysis PLus Oval 8 spk cables, NBS Signature and MIT Power cords

Finally managed to watch this over the weekend on 4K Blu Ray.

WOW!!  Fantastic sound.  The disc got this sticker that says the Live Aid footage is now shown in it's full entirety as never seen in theatres.   Is that true?  We got the 20 min footage of the queen segment on Live Aid ....this is the highlight, how can you sit there quietly in your HT seat and not respond, how?   My neighbours hate me!!

Also watched the 4k bd over the weekend. Great sound but PQ no difference from non-4k discs. I would rate this movie average. BTW the lead actor looks more feminine than the actual Mercury ;D

Agreed with the PQ. This show used a rather muted color palette probably for artistic intent.

Not that bad lah... When he was in THE PACIFIC

...he made me had a hate and pity feeling towards the character he played.

Speaking of this Egyptian actor, Rami Malek - his most "unique" feature definitely has to be his eyes which is more stand out than the rest of his  facial features. Creepy yet mesmerizing at times but more on the former vibe...

Feminine or not... he's boinking Lucy Boyton IRL! :P (Freddie's "Mary Austin" from the movie)

Wow. Just like Sam Riley and Alexandra Maria Lara who played Ian Curtis and Annik Honore in Control!
