I am planning to get this once I setup the new room towards the end of this year.  If I know Denon well, they do not come up with new model once every year....not like Marantz.

Another firmware update avail for X8500H...getting quite frequent these days.

Takes about 5 mins to update. Same kind of system improvement benefits.

I am using Marantz 8802A now.   Build Quality, feel, reliability....lose to Denon, just feel like a cheap toy.  My previous set the Denon AVP-A1HDA lasted me more than 10 years and had been the flagship ....they didn't have another flagship AVP ever....plus they gave all owners a hardware upgrade early 2011-2012.  They called the upgraded model, AVP-A1HD-3D.

Yes, I am a Audyssey user.....Audyssey Pro came with the hardware upgrade.

I finally let go my Denon AVP , not because I need to let it go....I was running out of space in this HK apartment.  The unit was very solid and working 100%.....the buyer was a high end repair hi-fi repair center in China.  The runner told me that parts for the Denon AVP is very sought-after, many long-time users in China.  They would buy any unserviceable unit and were very happy that they acquired a 100% working unit from me.

Models comes out each year, except for the flagship ones like the 8500, which tends to last at least a couple of years..
It's also the only one which has an upgrade to HDMI 2.1 (TBC). However the 2020 models are likely to see the HDMI 2.1 built in..
