U.S. states launch antitrust probe of Google, advertising in focus

Participating states on Monday asked Google to provide documents on its advertising business, Paxton said at the announcement in Washington. Several attorneys general present described the investigation as “preliminary” and said they expected it would expand to cover other issues, including data privacy.

Interesting (non-Mobile related) news from Google’s QuAIL folks…

https://www.technologyreview.com/s/610274/google-thinks-its-close-to-quantum-supremacy-heres-what-that-really-means/

Quote
This week Google unveiled Bristlecone, a new quantum computing chip with 72 quantum bits, or qubits—the fundamental units of computation in a quantum machine. As our qubit counter and timeline show, the previous record holder is a mere 50-qubit processor announced by IBM last year.

What this boils down to is that even though a few extra bits make only a modest difference to a classical computer’s power, adding extra qubits to a quantum machine can increase its computational power exponentially. That’s why, in principle, it doesn’t take all that many qubits to outgun even the most powerful of today’s supercomputers.

Coupled with DeepMind, could this lead to SkyNet? ;D

Good price, I would have gotten a Chromebook if not for my Son who passed me his 2016 MBP when I was in the States late April! :)
