So it looks like they are using "photos" of your ears and face to create the 3D HRTF profile rather than just microphone..

That would be (slightly) different from the microphone only approach of Smyth.

I would be surprised if Smyth didn't sue.

Probably but the value proposition of the Creative is  hard to beat...I'll reserve my comments AFTER I have hear it for myself.

Would you be satisfied with 5.1.2?

  • .. Droid Rulez ..
Creative has probably learned the hard way that being the first or the best technically, does not mean financial success.
Being able to produce, package and market to the masses is the key to success.

I will not take this as a serious contender with a physical speaker setup but if technology has come this far to prove that Atmos effects can be well implemented within the headphone sphere (to a reasonably good extent) w/o splurging too much to benefit the realms of gaming and equivalent...I'll say it is a step in the right direction for Creative this time.

Then you’ve not heard the Smyth. Even in A8 mode, it was phenomenally good

  • I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
The Smyth A8 has a very high learning curve experience for the users.  I hope the A16 would be more user friendly.
SLT used to be the agent for Singapore.  Now, I guess you have to order directly from Smyth.

ST released an article today on this
http://www.straitstimes.com/tech/audio/surround-sound-with-a-dongle

Expected cost sgd $200!  :o amazing price.

With this price point it's a no brainer man if it can get 50-60% of smyt sq

And can this be used with any headphones/earphone or must be of certain spec?

Did you read the ending quote in that article? I almost fell off my chair laughing. Dude thinks he changed human history by making this thing.

World hunger? Political oppression? Climate change? Nah....not as important as headphone sound inside your head, now that is pure evil, we must end this madness!
Now now, it is you that needs to learn some proper manners. No good Singaporeans.

He said it was his gift to humanity. Quite different from changing human history
