I presently own a Marantz SA8005 sacd player which has a DAC feature.  That is why I am open to buying a dedicated music streamer like the sotm sms 200 or a microrendu.

Pioneer just launched a new music streamer the N70AE with ess sabre DAC which I also considering:

Do you already have an existing dac?
If not, I would recommend getting the Aries mini with an external linear psu.
Having a tidal subscription is beneficial too.
I assume you are starting off with digital playback.
You can slowly add a dac when budget allows and then Roon when you get tired of Lightning DS.
The internal dac of the Aries mini is not bad for the price. That being said, I did upgrade to a R2R dac and the sound is unbelievably good.

Does adding the USB regen help or streamers are meant to do away with the re-clockers?

I don't know bro. I don't have any uptone products. I think durian use before. Also, iso regen is a upgrade from usb regen. I using the hydra z with zpm as i2s bridge to my wavedream dac. So don't really want to add more components to the chain.
Stereo setup: Auralic, Audiobyte, Rockna, Line Magnetic, Pure Audio Project, Ansuz, Western Electric, Shuguang
HT setup: Emotiva, Ken Kriesel, SVS, Sony

What are your opinions on Bluesound Node 2?

Sounds better then Aries Mini

I preferred the sound of the Node 2 to the Mini in stock form. The Mini, by comparison, sounds thinner and frankly simply not as fun. This translates into longer and more enjoyable listening time with the Node 2, which is the entire point, isn't it.

I recently acquired the ARIES Mini and it does sound a lot better with the ultra linear LPS. The LPS itself costs $400 so the total costs of ARIES mini setup is a bit more. But I feel the improvement is so significant that the Aries Mini ought to have been packaged together with the LPS.

I tried mini+ keces dc116 lps, the sq improvement is very obvious, much more improved than its auralic brand lps (aries factory lps). In term of cp value its definitely better than ori lps.
HT: Pioneer LX-89, Emotiva XPA-5, Dali Ikon 7 MK2, Tannoy Revolution DC6Tse, Tannoy Revolution Signature DC6LCR, Deft Tech Pro Monitor 800,Dali Lektor 2,HSU ULS15 MK2,Philips S9700, Sony 47W804

Adding ISO regen and another LPS will improve SQ further as well as cost.
