« on: July 05, 2017, 23:58 »
Hope it's the correct forum.

Because analogue TV will be phased out very soon, i need to buy a digital TV box for my plasma (no built in digital tuner) to watch the basic channels.

The dtv box offered by community centre too ex. About $100+ i heard.

Bro, I have tried several DVBT2 boxes for my parents and in laws.
Either they fail after a few months or the remote controls are not responsive.
And they don't come with the indoor antenna.

The one I recommended comes with indoor active antenna and the remote is working perfectly even at a distance. And the power supply is an AC to DC adaptor instead of those direct AC in to the box and the tuner is very hot while in use.

The two antennas in your link doesn't perform well unless if your area signal is very good.

thanks all! zoomed into this one in the end:

FYI those tv supporting dbvt2 ...

I use $7 antenna from Qoo10 and it works perfectly fine for my parents place.
I would recommend anyone getting antenna to try this out first. Worst case if it doesn't work too well due to poor signal at your place you don't lose so much too. Good if it works you save yourself 30 to 50 bucks buying the higher end antenna :)

Bro, if the signal strength is good, any antenna can do the job.

I have unfold a small paper clip and used it as an antenna for my SIL who stays in high floor with nothing blocking around.

Signal strength hovers around 80 to 90%.

For Digital TV, those 5" small tower antenna is useless. Even the $70 Daiyo powered antenna I bought from NTUC FP is not that good.

This antenna I highly recommend - I have two of these:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/View-TV-Flat-HD-Digital-Indoor-Amplified-TV-Antenna-with-Amplifier-50-Miles-Range-digital-tv/32711539846.html?spm=2114.13010608.0.0.9wsYXh

Works perfectly, never lose signal nor get macro blocks on the video.
I must warn though, the packaging is not that fantastic - I bought 2, one was ok, one was a bit crumpled. Both works perfectly.
Another caveat, you'll need a F-type connector to convert to your TV antenna connector (can buy at NTUC or DIY shop).

Mine arrived. Not bad for $25. But wife doesn't like the additional TV box.

If I use the 3m $25 one in the below link, can it work on its own without dtv box? my TV which do not have dtv built in
