Unfortunately for the Panny AE-100 projector, the reverse is true.  The VGA input gives the best result compared to the component input.

hi jeffong ,
mu........that i dont know lah...cos i didnt own a AE-100....... :-\

so far i tried up my sanyo SW-10,my friend's sharp xv-z9000,marantz 12s1,hitachi cp-s225 all agree that the
Y/Pb/Pr is better than the 15pin-RGB input....maybe cos we did not try to connect 2 the PC....

but anyway...may i know who give this conclusion that AE-100's VGA input gives the best result ,did he own a AE-100 and how did he do the compare?...thanks :)

This conclusion was derived from numerous viewing of the AE-100 owned by the various XP members including myself.

Well some of the setups I have seen include :-
1. HTPC w/ Panny (VGA)
2. Q50 w/ Panny (VGA using transcoder)
3. Q50 w/ Panny (Component)
4. Nintaus w/ Panny (VGA)
5. Nintaus w/ Panny (Component)

i also agree that long VGA(RGB) or component with short digital cable will be a better solution...unless your projecter only accept composite(so call "video input" )...then long video cable will disgrade the pic quality...

do your projecter had a component input....?

if had,try 2 use it rather than using the 15 pin VGA(RGB) will give u better pic quality....

VGA(15 pin)cable normally are design for computer and it will not give the best result at HT projecter unless u split the cable into 5 BNC RGB connecter(normally u will see this kind of input at those outdated...or "hi end" 3 guns projector) ...

hope u unterstand what i mean... :)

try 2 explain..

actually when i said component input better than 15 pin VGA ,mainly is becos of the differ kind of cable use for 15 pin and component cable....

component use 3 set of cable which almost totally isolated from each other while the 15 pin (not matter using Y/Pb/Pr or RGB..),even they got isolation....they sqeeze all the signal in 1 tiny cable,so u can imagine the crosstalk within the signal.....

once again hope u unterstand what i mean... :)

sorry 4 my poor english.. :-[

:)

Thanks duckling for introducing me to this wonderful HT forum.

I am from Singapore.

Me using Belden 1506A for all my digital connection in my HT, terminated with Canare TRUE 75ohm RCA connectors.

The sound of this 75ohm cable is smoother than normal 50ohm giveaways ... cost about S$25, i can't remember.

I bought them from Mr. Robert, Sim Lim Tower, 2nd floor, coner, near the escalator. (sorry, I forgot the shop name). He has lots of DIY cables from Canare and Belden and whathaveyou.

Always use 75ohm for digital or otherwise specified, but NOT 50ohm.

My Seller's Pledge:
1) I do not entertain buyer's remorse.
2) I will never sell any known faulty items on the internet without informing in the advert.

If buyer is uneasy about buying used items from the net, then buy a used one with some warranty life left or new one from the store.

I believe that it is unethical to sell something that is faulty (but seller do have their limitations) in any forum and claim that it is 100% OK because I am a buyer myself.
