The 75" Q9F is at least $3k cheaper than the 77" C8, hopefully near $10k during sale events.  ;)

I believe so far none of the mfr support both. They are in 2 different camps. So lets see whether HDR10+ or DV will prevail. The reason to swing to HDR10+ is purely on cost point of view with "no licensing fee" for both manufacturers and film makers.

So how to play DV and HDR10+ on one display. Siao Liao.

That leave the Z9D as the cheapest top drawer unit for the >70" panel.
Even if the Samsung is a few points better at black levels, it's a lot more costly.
So the 75" Z9D is the most VFM right now..

And as of now, there are more titles with DV..

At it's current pricing, the OLED seems like a better deal.
But unlike Sony, Samsung and LG cut their prices as the models age..

My friend working at HN have confirmed that Sony also cut prices as model ages. Its not only limited to LG or Samsung. Same applies for other brands........

The information I am reading online is confusing. I believe the Q8FN is FALD while the Q8 range is edge lit. Singapore seems to be having the Q8C.

https://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tech-news-samsung-s-2018-qled-tvs-are-here-and-they-re-brighter-and-better-ever

And based on what I read online, Q8C is edgelit:

2018 Q8 will be FALD.

ah....  that clarify things somewhat, 2018 Q8F should be FALD, Q8C should be edge lit.  And likely SG will only have Q8C.

It's confusing because some units of the Q8 in N America are actually FALD, and the same model designation elsewhere are edgelit!
But suffice to say, the Q8 is edge lit in SG..
For the money, the Sony X9000F is worth considering, and if there's a runout price on the X940E, that's a good unit too. Some of the measurements beat that of the Z9D..

9300/9400 actually is also edge lit. The 9000F is FALD.

Actually bro the 9400 is also FALD :)
The 9000 has about 64 zones in the 65", the 9400 about 256 zones. As a comparison, the Z9D has 600 zones..
But both the 930 and 940 are well regarded panels..
The 9000 is also selling well in USA with many buying the 85 because that's a large, bright panel at a relatively low cost and is the cheapest Sony with the X1 Xtreme chip which is the main reason why people buy Sonys - for their motion handling..
