Guys

Anyone has tried successfully to access Prime Video USA contents using VPN on shield pls?

I have surfshark but it doesn't work on any of the 10+ USA servers. Netflix is fine and I get up to 4k resolution.

Keen to know which VPN works as both Netflix and Amazon Prime are very sensitive to geoblocking.

Thanks

You don't install mewatch onto the Shield. You run mewatch on your phone/tablet, and then cast it to the Shield.

You may try the Turbo VPN on your Shield. But I also own Nvidia TV Shiled TV Pro but havn't tried that yet. Honestly I didnt want to load my Nvidia with 3rd party softwares and would love to maintain as clean as possible.

Thanks
Antony.

Dumb question : does upscaling works on cast signal?

Btw should still be able to install meWatch onto shield isnt it? Understand that it comes with playstore installed.

Yes, the upscaling works on cast signal.
MeWatch is not found in the Shield TV's playstore. I did not try side loading it.

Thanks for sharing! It's a pity the app is not supported. Could be this due to mobile vs tablet version? Just guessing.

Casting is fine, however it will render my phone unusable during that period.

Find an old phone. Don't even need SIM, just connect to WiFi to be your meWatch driver. :D

New to Nividia shield and thinking of getting the Shield Pro from q10 to play
I believe it can stream mkv  files from my NAS but I wanna know if I need to install Kodi to playback my movies or simply use VLC to play them. Also, can I stream UHD iso/BDMV movies from my NAS?

Yes, installing Kodi for playback of mkv files is always preferred because it allows bitstreaming of Dolby Atmos and DTS X sound mix. As for ISO playback, if streaming over NAS, for 1080p BDMV/ISO playback, it works albeit using simple BD menu structure - i.e. playback of full movie, selection of chapters, audio and subtitles. streaming H.265 4K UHD content, it really depends how fast your network bandwidth between the device and the NAS can dish out.

Stream MKV from NAS: yes, no problems
Kodi or VLC: no problems
UHD ISO/BDMV from NAS: yes, can run with Kodi, but not full BD menu. Anyone else know how to get full BD menu?

I run all wired LAN.

If you are using normal Kodi from playstore then it won't. You need some kind of "fork" Kodi to playback full BD menu. So far, I have not seen a standalone fork that does that. Egreat A10 which I used to own utilize Kodi with their own fork.

Thank you. I am running full wired LAN for all my devices too.
So, I need to install Kodi and set it up to access my NAS using SMB?
I would assume that the Pro support DV and Atmos for Netflix as well as my atmos/dv movies on my NAS with BDlite menu.

U can use NFS protocol for better handling of bandwidth when streaming higher bitrate. SMB v2 and v3 is fine too these days.

Not just only the Pro model will support DV and Atmos for Netflix. Even the normal Nvidia Shield TV 2019 will support that as well.

And yes, all using BD lite menu.
