It should be the other way round 18w for 8 ohm.

Formula is v2/r unless is current amp, which is un common.

In summary, better get an amp or listen soft soft

im embarassed, yes, it should about double when run @ 4. . actually i remembered it to be in the range of 80w for x7. Ok, so it is total 100, 50 each. I need to see properly next time..

"A high power, high efficiency Class-D digital amplifier TPA3116D2 delivers up to 100W power (2 x 50W @ 4Ω*), allowing you to connect to passive bookshelf or tower speakers. The Sound Blaster X7 features an impedance switch to select between 4Ω and 8Ω to match your speakers to deliver the best audio performance. "

hi guys, just to update, in the end got the NAD D 3020 and boy does it sing!
It really helps that it has a "bass" button (not for purists obviously) to assist the small bookshelves produce more punch to compensate for the lack of bottom end.

Am still surprised the amount of things you can pack into such a small box, USB connectivity for PC, bluetooth aptx for tablets etc...

Thanks again all, for your help!
