FYI:
There is now an audiophile version of the Cisco SG112-24 Compact switch (with 2 SFP ports) modified with Connor Winfield OCXO.  This dealer also suggests Corning ClearCurve glass fiber for use with Lumin X1.

Lumin will not be present in Hong Kong AV Show 2018 (but should hopefully resume in 2019).  Those who go to Hong Kong may perhaps visit the store above to check out Lumin X1 optical network setup with this particular switch.

They should modify a Synchronous Ethernet (ITU-T G.8262) compliant Ethernet switch instead if they really want to get it right... putting in an OCXO is pretty useless (except for purely subjective claims of improvements).

Please give an example for me to go buy.  Thanks!

Plenty around from the usual suspect, Google “Ethernet Switches that support SyncE”, and make sure whatever you pick has a BITS interface that accepts a 10MHz TTL clock (as opposed to just an E1/T1 clock interface). Juniper ones are pretty good, like the one below (the tiny gold interfaces are for the reference clock inputs, either 10MHz, or E1/T1 clocks).

That said, your downstream components need to also support interfaces to the same reference clock... If your Lumin X1 doesn't even have a 10MHz clock Reference input, or if your media converter end-point doesn’t also support SyncE, then you’re pretty much wasting your time and money (just like the guys who modded the Cisco switch with a OCXO -  those guys clearly have no clue about clocking matters w.r.t Ethernet/IP packets ;) )

If there is any Lumin user who still experiences Tidal playback stutter issues after changing DNS, please send me a PM and state your model. We have been trying to further mitigate those issues via beta firmwares.

User review of Lumin X1:
http://www.hiendy.com/hififorum/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=118513

(Note: the DAC+Ethernet streaming option+PSU upgrade+clock setup he compared Lumin X1 to costs roughly quadruple the price if I'm not mistaken.)

Lumin U1MINI is a cost-reduced full-function version of U1 at the physical size of D2 and a price tag of not higher than D2.
http://www.luminmusic.com/lumin-u1-mini.html

Those who are using D1 or D2 SPDIF output to an external DAC should upgrade to U1MINI for AES / USB output capability and improved SQ.

Why LUMIN U1 MINI

Following the huge success of LUMIN D2, we decided to investigate the possibility of making the LUMIN transport technology similarly accessible.

The result is a huge specification in a compact package.

Capable of upsampling and downsampling all the way from 44.1kHz to DSD128 and supporting playback of DSD256, LUMIN U1 MINI matches the U1 in almost every area - except price. <--- ?????
