Yay!

Please keep us updated, once available!

With the fibre port, can it do AOIP via a fibre to copper converter if a dac supports it?

No AOIP.  We still need MinimServer or Lumin L1 on the network to serve music via UPnP.

The fiber port can be used in these ways:

Network switch -> FMC (MC210CS) -> single mode fiber -> Lumin X1 with TL-SM311LS

or

Optical network switch -> fiber -> Lumin X1 with appropriate SFP

I would imagine with the X1,  we just tap the data stream from our Music Server / Music Streamer to the X1 and use a fiber to fiber connection, or at most using a fiber switch in between..  You only need Fiber Ethernet NIC cards installed in your PC.   This will remove the Media convertor I have at the Hi Fi rack feeding both Lumin S1 and Ayre QX-5.

Not yet, but hopefully soon.
Is X1 price going to be based on S1 or above S1? Will A1 be taken off the product ranges?

X1 price is going to be higher than the current price of S1.  With the exception of D1 (replaced by D2), the whole Lumin product range continues to be available.

Hmmm...  Do you mean setting up the PC as a router with its own DHCP server for the fiber network, then direct connect the Fiber Ethernet NIC to X1?  Lumin needs an IP address from a DHCP server, and it also needs to be able to stream from Internet Tidal / Qobuz / Spotify, etc.

As for using a switch that supports both optical fiber and copper Ethernet, yes that will work, but then you don't need the Fiber Ethernet NIC.

I was thinking of fixing the Lumin IP static. Then I physically swap the fiber lines within the LC connector carrier... I will do this if I am doing JPlay in the future.

Right now I am doing fibre all the way from music server, fibre switch to inject internet, to a Media converter just before the DAC so it is exciting that the DAC now has a LC socket.

Beyond my anticipation, I have gotten hold of my Lumin X1!

Hand carry it back....

The Lumin X1 now sports a Silver label instead of the S1's gold label.

Thicker and beefier power cable.

Initial Power-Up.

Power supply now have the "milled metal finish" as the Lumin X1.  Nice!

Yes, fiber everything!  Remove the media convertor from the signal chain and plug that LC plug directly into the X1!

This picture is dedicated to our #1 MQA fan in Xtremeplace!!

So mesmerized by the sound of the new X1, I scanned through all my favorite tracks for 3 hours straight.  Missed dinner! It is simply incredible.  The immediate impression you got from the X1 are the dynamics!!  Music is now more liquid, even more transparent.  Congested backing vocals now got space, separation and better definition.

I bought this without an audition.  Just based the decision on blind faith; ES9038Pro chip, fiber Ethernet, improved sampling rates and bit depth.  Worst case, I can just use this for MQA playback.   But now, this is my reference DAC replacing the Ayre QX-5.  Highly recommended.

I'm very happy for you, Audio!  Sorry for causing you to miss dinner!  ;D

There are two ES9038Pro chips inside the X1 for dual mono operation.
