Hey Pete iam not an MP5 owner. After auditioning hifiluv Dared MP5, 6P1 mini tube and Consonace EL34, it didn't me take long to decide on a EL34 instead. ;D

Cancel mine name.  Cudn't find it in Hong Kong.  Went to the shop but was told that they don't deal with Dared anymore.
Found another similar cutie under Bravo brand though.  Quite good but a little expensive.  Took some shots with my cell phone and hope to download it to pc for all to see.

Many use Ushers
Something a bit sensitive IMO is nice
I use Monitor Audio RS 1s

i hv used the MP5 with various bookshelf speakers, no problem for close field listening (less than 3 mtr distance).  from a low senv at 83dB, 6 ohms (Fidek, unknown brand) but mostly 90dB, 8 ohms, KEF Q compact, KEF Cresta II, Monitor Audio 7, Energy C3, Jamo E500 (current hookup), all sound very good, at least to my ears.  ;D

I wanted to keep the costs low so I settled for the Q Acoustics 1010s in the end. Sure, there were other better speakers but I didn't want to spend too much for the Dared, which was fairly cheap to begin with. :)

Heard Johnblue's JB4 match very nicely... haven't tried it personally. Another possibility is the ALR Jordan Entry, esp if you are concerned about size. The jordans are very lovely when I heard it matched with Diva equipment... :)

Just contacted JohnBlue to inquire about the MP5 amp. Price now seems to have risen to USD210 and shipping to Singapore now costs USD22.5

Anyone bought MP5 recently at this price?

Wonder whether can still get at $219 plus shipping?

I think the only other option is SLS at $999

Hi
welcome
I hope though you avoid being a typical Singaporean and hunt high and low, fight tooth and nail to save a few dollars or worse, end up not sampling a nice pocket rocket because you couldn't get your price.....
Johnblue gives the best value for this amp

Hi Pete,

Thanks for the welcome  ;D

I don't mind shelling out a few $$ more for a great amp. It's just that 2 wks ago, it was USD200. Just want to make sure, I'm getting the right price.

The MP5 looks like the right amp for my study room. I've a pair of old Tannoy Revolution r3 floorstanders which I hope will match well with the MP5.

at 89dB sensitivity, shd be ok

another option is to bring in a mini tube, the fuller n richer sound is something tat u would not regret, unless u want to first experience the MP5 sound.  also MP5 do not generate as much heat and is much better looking,  ;D
