Title: Product Key - Offcie Home 2007 Excel and MS Word
Post by: ysl on January 11, 2020, 11:18
need to re-set my PC and now realised I've unknowingly thrown away the product keys for excel and word.

Just so tedious for users when they decided to go this way. All my work is at a stand still.

Any quick and relatively easy ways to get the product keys ?

Thanks

If u had saved a copy of your work, 3rd party programs like OpenOffice can open your file again.

Have you tried logging into your MS account?

If not, just sign up office 365.

Ah, I am so unfamiliar with MS, this didn't even cross my mind.

OK will find out about Office 365

Thank you.

There are also a few YouTube videos on getting the product key but they didn't quite work.

MS website assist is a machine, and it lead one round and round to nowhere

@ysl - did you try this?

https://www.lifewire.com/find-your-microsoft-office-2010-or-2007-product-key-2625092

Let me state upfront, I never use the so-called licensecrawler utility before...so not sure it works.
But I guess u have nothing to lose...

Thanks Desray.

Will certainly find out more about this before giving it a try.

MS is not as user friendly as before and it is getting more cumbersome.

On the contrary, MS is making things more seamless these days. Starting with MSO 365 onwards. All information such as license will be stored in the cloud and tied to your MS account. MS is steering away from physical disc media and everything can be downloaded and run the setup direct to your PC or laptop. It is for those 2007/2010 MSO that you need to make sure you keep the license serial number handy in your cloud.

having read this, been pondering if I should go for the most recent MS but am just so unwilling for pay $100-$200 for the package. The 2007 student version of excel and word have enough features for my work.

Highly likely OpenOffice or LibreOffice would work for you...

if you're using the Windows online chat help, depending on the agent, they can be of good help.

Got my product key using it, and another agent have been able to get my Office Home & Office 2007 up and working again , though the official word is that that version is "retired" and no longer supported.
