Title: Hegel Singapore Thread
Post by: karhoul on December 09, 2015, 14:52
Hello again guys!

Been getting a lot of messages via PM and sms about Hegel, H80,160 and 360 in particular. Decided to start a new thread here so all can benefit from the discussion.

I will invite the people behind Hegel to join in as well to share further information if required.

Meanwhile, below is a link by Absolute Sound writer Jacob Heilbrunn pairing the Hegel H160 with Wilson XLF.
What an amp !

Hi KH,

You have the pre-amp at the Adelphi showroom as well ?

Nope. You want to use the variable line output(RCA) to have a "feel" with your power amp first?

I have a client doing that.
If you are using balanced xlr for power amp I have the right adaptor to convert to rca.

Not the best way to connect I know,  but it lets u have an idea  what hegel is capable of.

H360 sold out. shipment reaching very soon. you might want to listen to the H360 integrated amp.
I have the Burmester 911 and 956 with 089 pre, honestly the h360 is quite comparable.
Drives the pmc twenty26 like a champ.

Nice to have a thread like this. I'm still loving my Hegel H20/P20 combination. Clean, clear, smooth, and with tight bass. Thumbs up!

Dear friends,

"The CD player to beat."
Hot on its heels of introduction in recent Munich High End 2016, we are proud to bring you a brand new Norweigian brethren, the Hegel Mohican.

Most of us still own many CD's. And we want to play them back at their best, And finally it is here... The Mohican - for people who want the best from their CD's.

The Mohican is something as rare as a dedicated CD-Player. A dedicated CD-Player using the very latest in digital processing - adapted for CD-only. The results are astonishing. The name tells it all. It was called the Mohican, as in the novel "The Last of the Mohicans".

This is that superb player using original CD-drive mechanisms from Sanyo, updated with Hegel in-house servo boards. It has the newest and best DAC chips, working in native 16 bit/44.1 kHz resolution. It has the best clock mechanism Hegel has ever designed. The patented SoundEngine has been used to control the clock, forcing jitter down to levels that was not possible before. Perhaps the lowest in the world. But apart from the technical superiority, what does it do for you? It plays magically natural. It sings... fluid and with great temperament, where needed. Compared to any other digital device we have heard, it simply plays without "edges" in the sound. Almost analog.

For more information,

Do you dare to listen? Make an appointment with our colleagues at Adelphi today!!!

H160 : For home theatre bypass, it has to connect to the specific analog RCA but not the XLR. Am I correct?

I use an H160 with a 40 year old pair of Gale GS401As and I have to say that their synergy is superb, a great sound. The Gales were completely refurbed and rebuilt prior to hooking them up which was time and money well spent :).

Watched it vid yesterday, very interesting though he’s basically adapted decades-old linearising techniques from RF Amplifier into an Audio Amplifier; non-patentable, probably explains why he was so willing to explain in detail how things work ;)
